Elida U. Leija

1935 – 2017

Elida entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, David A. Leija, and is survived by her eleven children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elida was born February 1, 1935, in Von Army, Texas. She met and married the love-of-her-life David A. Leija in San Antonio, Texas, and was married on February 9, 1953.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and fellowshipping about the Word of God over a good cup of coffee. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 103, and her favorite hymns were “How Great Thou Art”, “Great is Thy Faithfulness”, and “It is Well with my Soul”. She enjoyed the ministering and preaching of God’s Word and loved her family, church-family, and pastors. Her greatest accomplishments were her children and she loved being a stay-at-home-mom from which she received her greatest joy. Elida loved to dance, sing and play board games with her family. Her favorite shows to watch were ”TBN”, “The Price is Right”, “Wheel of Fortune”, “Family Feud”,” The Jefferson’s”, “Jeopardy” and “Johnny Carson”. She loved getting dressed up, wearing her red lipstick, painting her nails and going out to eat. Her favorite restaurants were Sea Island, Luby’s and Abel’s Diner.

She will be dearly missed by her family, church-family, and her friends who will cherish the memory of her bright spirit, smile and loving care. Until we meet again, thank you Mom, for all your love and care. Words cannot express our love and gratitude for your selflessness, sacrifice, and unconditional love. We will miss your hugs, kisses, bright smile, and joyful spirit that brightened our days. We love you Momma and we can’t wait to see you again.
