Barbara Louise Abat

Our dear mother Barbara Abat was born in Jackson Tennessee on the 21st of January 1937 to Martin Van and Louise Poole. Sadly for all of us, she passed away the 28 March 2022 with her husband Jacques Abat by her side.

She graduated from Jackson High and received a nursing degree St. Joseph Nursing School. Barbara became a registered nurse as an officer in the Air Force. Barbara was blessed by the Lord with six devoted children, John, Kathleen, Bridget, Sheila, Michael, and Jennifer. John and Kathleen passed away and no doubt that they are reunited together in Heaven with Barbara. In 1991, Barbara married Jacques Abat of 31 beautiful years of marriage. She was Catholic at heart, a Third Order Carmelite, and never wavered in her faith. As her legacy, she passed to her children a love of the Lord. She is survived by her husband, Jacques, four children, Bridget, Sheila, Michael, and Jennifer, twelve grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, as well as her adopted and dear friend of the last few years Rebekah Scoggins. She will be missed greatly by her family and the communities of Universal City and St. Monica Catholic Church in Converse.
