Carolyn "Carly" Mccall

November 20, 1994 — March 20, 2021

Carolyn Ann McCall, age 26, passed away tragically in the early evening hours of Saturday, March 20, 2021 in Schertz, Texas.  Carolyn was born on November 20, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada but soon found a family when she was adopted by Craig and Kathryn Harris McCall.  Carolyn soon became known as “Carly” as she settled with her new family.

Carly grew up in Henderson, Nevada.  Though Carly fought a mental struggle nearly all her life, the memories she leaves behind are vivid and cherished.  From a young age, Carly and her siblings loved to prepare anniversary dinners for their parents.  From menus to wardrobe, the kids planned it all but only Carly could find a way to get a plate and share the special occasion with her parents.

As a family there were no better memories than the travels they made together.  From visits to Sun River, Oregon where they spent countless hours skiing and shared laughs and love on the long carriage rides in the snow.  Throughout her life, Carly loved the ocean.  As a family, the McCall’s took multiple trips to the beach and Carly would lose herself in the water and the sand.  She was fascinated by ocean life.  One of the fondest memories as a family was realizing Carly’s wish and swimming with the dolphins in Florida.

Carly graduated from Brehm Preparatory School in Carbondale, Illinois.  At Brehm, Carly enjoyed countless friends, she loved participating in theater productions and attending school dances.  Brehm instructors taught to Carly’s strengths and tailored interventions so Carly could learn and flourish.

After High School, Carly moved to Southern California where she attended esthetician school.  Never one to be settled, she then moved to Wichita Falls, Texas to establish a relationship with her biological family.  Her biological brother Jeremy remembers very fondly the day he and Carly met at the airport.  She was so happy to meet him.  They enjoyed a warm relationship from that point for the remainder of Carly’s life.

Soon, Carly moved to Lawton, Oklahoma where she met her best friend, Kendahl Lorayne Astudillo.  The day Kendahl found out she was pregnant with her first child is the day she met Carly.  It was a magical day and Carly was so thrilled for her new friend.  Kendahl’s husband was relocated to Belgium, but the two remained extremely close, despite living an ocean apart.

Carly then moved to San Antonio where she began a career as a pet groomer.  She loved animals and was very happy grooming and loving the dogs and cats in her care.  She had many loyal clients and enjoyed success in her role.

In the Spring of 2019, she met Richard Garcia in San Antonio.  They quickly fell in love and married June 3, 2019.  After spending a short time in St. George, Utah, they decided to settle in Converse, Texas. Carly’s heart opened all the way up on March 4, 2020, with the birth of a precious baby girl, Marina Lorayne Garcia.  Carly loved Marina with everything she had.  She devoted her whole heart and soul to her precious daughter.

Through no fault of her own, Carly’s life was fraught with demons.   She was diagnosed at a young age with mental illness, and as she grew up, her Bi-polar disorder became increasingly difficult for her.  In her own words, she was stuck inside ugly and frightening feelings, with voices telling her terrible things. She wanted to be free of that.  She tried to manage it, she fought against it, and ultimately, she couldn’t bear the feelings anymore.

Carly had an endearing sense of humor.  She loved making silly faces and her laugh filled the room.   When she was happy, she was purely joyful.  She was equally deeply sensitive and somber.  She channeled her deep sensitivity through body art, poetry, song writing and journaling.  She recently discovered painting and demonstrated a talent for creating vibrant, thought provoking pieces.

Carly attended various churches throughout her life.  Although she was baptized Catholic, at the time of her death, she was attending True Life Church in Universal City, TX.  She was very much enjoying her relationship with God.

Carly is survived by one daughter, Marina Lorayne Garcia; husband, Richard Garcia; parents, Craig and Katie McCall; brother and sisters, Mary McCall, Andrew McCall and Frances McCall; biological siblings, Jeremy Wheatley, and wife Heather, Mike Wheatley, and wife Holly, and Amanda Bosh; biological mother, Katherine Parker; nieces and nephews, Kai Wheatley, Alexis Wheatley, Jeiden Wheatley, Jesse Wheatley, Reyin Wheatley, Liliana Wheatley, Zarah Wheatley, Zoe Bosh, Natis Bosh and Daiden Bosh; best friend, Kendahl Lorayne Astudillo; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.

From the time Carly was a little girl, she had a special talent for finding heart shapes in nature.  Shells, rocks, leaves, even cloud formations that others would take for granted were hunting ground for Carly’s heart collection.  She collected countless hearts in her short time on this earth – both literally in physical objects and in the countless people she leaves behind to cherish the life of Carly McCall.

Funeral services for Carly McCall will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Father Richard Aguilar officiating.  Carly will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Park following the service. 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Road, San Antonio, TX 78239.

In the eyes of the Lord, everything is possible.

For when life gets hard, faith is there to follow.

With the candid responses from God, nothing is impossible.

They say he’s the bandaid to every solution.

So, follow your path he has provided for you

cuz one day you will look up with thanks and say ‘you saved me’.

When that day comes, you will be an angel for the lord…

gliding through the sky with the feeling of joy in your heart

and your eye focused on the prize of eternal life.

So, I say while you’re here on earth, prepare yourselves for the land of Gods.

The God we choose to become for him lies within the ethos of your heart.
