Christopher Simmons

Christopher Wesley Simmons entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 21, at the young age of 43. He was born on April 3, 1978 in San Angelo, Texas, to Lionel Wesley Simmons and Bertha Esther (Arenas) Haring. At the age of 4, he moved to San Antonio where he would spend the remainder of his life.

He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School where he met his first love, Danielle “Margaret” Bell (Pottin). Together they had their daughter, Skai Symone Simmons. He then met and married his future wife, Gloria Marie DeLuna, and became a father to stepdaughter, Eleaza DeLuna.

Throughout 20 years of marriage, he had his sons: Ashton Wesley Simmons, Jaden Christopher Simmons and Christopher “CJ” Wesley Simmons II and daughter, Areya Lee Simmons.

His greatest passions in life were his family, friends, pets, cooking (especially barbecuing), music and the San Antonio Spurs. He had a smile that could light up a room and an infectious laugh that no one could resist joining in on. He had a natural aptitude for using words and ideas in a quick and inventive way to create humor. His intelligence was far beyond his years, and which his mother would say came from his dad. To know Christopher was to love him. He had a huge heart that will forever be missed.

We will carry him through our memories from now until forever.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lionel Wesley Simmons; uncles, Clifford N. Simmons and Walter M. Simmons; aunt, Agnes V. Lee; cousin, Todd Bland; grandparents, Jose and Esther Jimenez, and grandmother, Gerladine L. (Houze) Simmons-Crumpler; and grandfather, Walter M. Simmons.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Marie DeLuna; children, Skai, Eleaza, Ashton, Jaden, Areya, and CJ; his mother, Bertha Esther Arenas (Jorge); siblings, Elizabeth Renee Arenas (Joshua), Almeta McCray (Donnell), Lynn Simmons-Burke (Reggie), Mark Simmons (Charlene), Danielle Monet Thompson (Amal) and D’Arci Wolfgang; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The Visitation will be held at the Chapel Hill Memorial Park on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. The Visitation will continue at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021 and the Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. The Burial will be held afterward at the Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
