Emma Hollins

February 16, 1945 — December 10, 2021

Mrs. Emma Lean Hollins, age 76, went to meet our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 10, 2021, after passing at home in Live Oak, TX, after a 2-year long battle against cancer. She was born February 16, 1945 in Jacksonville, TX. Emma was the tenth of ten children from the union of Henry Boyd and Sweetie Lacy Boyd. She graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in 1964. She attended San Antonio College and received her Associate’s Degree in Child Development.


Emma married her husband, Elbert L. Hollins, May 26, 1963, who was in the military. She joined him at Ramey Air Base, Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, where their first child Edith was born in 1965. Two years later Elbert L. Hollins II was born at Griffiss Air Force Base, New York and their third child, Ericka was born at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX in 1969. They moved to Live Oak, TX in 1970. Al and Emma shared 58 years of matrimony and were only apart for Al’s Vietnam and Turkey tour. They traveled to Puerto Rico, Germany, Italy and France.


Emma had a zeal and zest for life. She was always willing to help and provide wisdom and guidance to all the Lord placed in her path. She was selfless. She helped in the community with youth programs on base and off-base. She was a recreation aide/teacher for a total of 30 years. She continued to volunteer in the community helping youth in sports programs and was the President of the Live Oak Jaguars Football and Cheer Organization since 1998.


She gave her life to Christ at an early age at Ebenezer Methodist Church. She was an honorary member of Abide in Him Ministry and served the Lord with her whole heart and her life.


She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Sweetie Boyd, sister Mary Jackson and five brothers Bill Boyd, Jim Boyd, Ealy Boyd, G.T. Boyd and Joe Henry Boyd.

She leaves to treasure her precious memories: Husband, Elbert "Al" Hollins, Daughter, Edith Hollins-Jones (Earnest), Son, Elbert Hollins II, Daughter, Ericka McGlone (Paul); Grandchildren: Demitrius, Dionne, Elbert "Lee", Evan, Cherylynn and Elaina. She is further survived by her three sisters Polly Cook, Lorene Jones and Maxine Thomas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Emma will be remembered for her dedication to her family, friends, and community.
