Gentry Tate

Gentry Mitchell Tate was born in Jonesboro, Tennessee on February 10, 1931 and passed from this life on October 17, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of ninety. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gentry Tate and Elizabeth Mitchell, and his ten siblings. Gentry is survived by his wife, Liem Tate, son Richard Tate (Nhung), five step-daughters: Mary Le (Paul), Lynn Wood (Clint), Jenny Velasquez (Nelson), Thữy Phẩm (Mang Phẩm), Thúy Phẩm (Lam Huỳnh), and eight grandchildren.

Gentry joined the Army in September 1953, but changed to the Air Force after his initial enlistment period. He served at various locations in the states and overseas as a Supply Specialist. While in the military he earned his GED. Gentry was also recognized for his efforts helping Guam recover from Typhoon Karen in 1962. He retired from the military in August of 1974.

He settled in San Antonio after retiring, attended San Antonio College, and earned an Associates in Art degree. Gentry worked for Trans-Care Transmission Parts as an accountant until retiring in 1996. He later met Liem Granger and they married on August 8, 2005.

While attending Woodlake Baptist Mission Church, Gentry accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior on June 20, 1982 and was baptized a month later. Gentry helped at the church and taught the Junior High Sunday School class for a time. He remained a member for 39 years until his passing.
