Jody Stanzione

November 25, 1960 — November 26, 2020

Jody Lynn Stanzione, age 60, of San Antonio, passed away in the mid afternoon hours of Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Northeast Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. Jody was born on November 25, 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Harold and Carol Kasica Mortag. When Jody was 11 years old, her family moved from Wisconsin to San Antonio following her father's career.
Jody went to Roosevelt High School where she was often the center of attention. One summer, Jody attended summer school where she finally met her match in a young, wild child named Mark Stanzione. Jody and Mark eventually wed on July 12, 1986 and spent the next 34 years raising a family, giving each other fits, and living a life time of memories.
Jody attended church most recently at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Throughout her career, Jody was a woman of many trades. She worked for several years in the Butter Krust bakery, 18 years in Human Resources for SMT Trucking, customer service at JoAnn Fabrics and most recently served as a leader at Goodwill, where her kind spirit and eagerness to help was an influence on the customers and staff around her.
Those who knew Jody will remember the love she had for her family, the smile she shared with the world and ability to hide all she was facing to protect those around her. She was ninety-to-nothing all the time and really took care of everyone else first, whether it was family or friends. When Jody wasn’t working, she enjoyed fishing, crafting various things, driving her beloved sports car and also challenging herself at Painting With a Twist but her favorite times were spent with her beloved children and grandchildren. Jody will be missed tremendously by many for decades to come.
Jody is survived by her husband Mark Stanzione, children, Christopher Robert Peña, and wife Raechel, of Kerrville, stepson Jett Stanzione of Irving, Anthony Douglas Stanzione of San Antonio, and Brandee Nicole Pfeil and husband Gavin, of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Chloe, Cory, Dylan and Gunner Peña, Kolter Wayne Pfeil and step grandchildren Jax, Jace and Jagger Stanzione; mother Carol Mortag; siblings, Wendy and Ron Mortag, and Susan Ritch; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.
