John Harvell

John William Harvell, 81 years old, of Converse, TX passed away on October 5, 2021. John was born to Lorenzo and Flora Harvell on August 4, 1940 in Malden, Missouri.


He served in the US Army for 22 years and achieved the rank of SFC. Been on multiple tours to Vietnam earning him a Brown Star for Valor, due to combat actions resulting in saving his post from being overran by the Vietnam Cong. During the battle he was wounded and awarded a Purple Heart.

John is survived by his spouse, Cynthia Harvell; his children, Kathie Wheeler, Jerry Harvell, Charlie Harvell, and John Harvell Jr ( Little Johnny ); multiple grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; his brothers, Rollin Harvell and Gary Harvell and his sister, Susan Boyer.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo Harvell and Flora Harvell; his son, Delbert Harvell, and his brother, Quincy Harvell.

Services for John Harvell will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in San Antonio, TX on 10/27/2021 will the burial to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemtery.
