Jose Martinez

December 10, 1968 — March 21, 2022

Jose David Martinez, born Jose David Martinez-Hernandez, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 21, 2022, at the age of 53 while visiting family and friends in Mexico. He was born on December 10, 1968, in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Dionicio Martinez and Abundia Hernandez Martinez. He was the youngest of 11 children.

David reformed into a proud United States citizen in July of 2008. He was united in holy matrimony to Maria on June 9, 1989, at the San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio, Texas. This June would have fulfilled 33 years of an enduring marriage. He was a devoted husband, a dedicated father, a family man, and an amazing friend. He endured a profound love for his girls and made sure they were never without. That love extended beyond measure to his animals as he enjoyed quality time with them as well. He was the Transportation Supervisor for Central Texas Laundry (Sodexo), where he would have completed 30 years of dedicated service by the end of this year. David was a committed hard worker and loved his job and “work” family dearly. When the rare opportunity arose to relax and unwind, David could be found in the backyard barbecuing and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs all while drinking an ice-cold Bud-light.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Dionicio Martinez and Abundia Hernandez Martinez. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Willborn Martinez; his Daughters, Jacquline Marie Martinez (Israel) and Alyssa Rose Martinez; his siblings, San Juana Sosa (Narciso), Catalina Hernandez, Carmen Rodriguez (Adolfo), Jose Cruz Ramirez (Rosa Maria), Gumecindo Ramirez, Irene Tolentino (Martin), Ubaldo Ramirez, Saul Ramirez (Adriana), Maria Isabel Castillo (Jose), and Miguel Ramirez (Patty), as well as numerous extended family members and a lifetime of friends.

David will be greatly missed, beloved, and forever remembered. The family would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of love, support, and continued prayers during this extreme and difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a memorial contribution to 8051 Chestnut Cape Dr, Converse, TX. 78109. You may contact (210) 687-5674 for expressions of sympathy.
