Rachiel Maldonado

January 21, 1953 — January 12, 2021

Rachiel Maldonado, age 67, of San Antonio, passed away in the mid evening hours of Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, after a lengthy illness.  Rachiel was born on January 21, 1953 in San Antonio to the late Daniel and Aurora Ramirez Maldonado. Rachiel attended Fox Tech High School, in San Antonio, where she was a member of the pep squad.  Following the families move to San Marcos, Rachiel graduated from San Marcos High and soon after began pursing her career in nursing by earning her LVN through St. Phillips College in San Antonio.

Rachiel worked at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital for many years where she took great pride in taking care of the patients and their families.  She later went to work as a records auditor for Casa Linda Nursing Agency where she was able to utilize her many years of nursing to excel at her job.

Rachiel enjoyed travelling - she traveled to Germany, Spain, Cancun, and Las Vegas, just to name a few of her favorites.  She liked to go to casinos and listen to music -Carol King was one of her favorites.  She also loved Diana Ross and Aretha Franklin and songs like Grazing in the Grass. Rachiel was a young soul that loved the oldies but goodies. She was very loving and caring.  Rachiel loved giving gifts to her family and had nicknames for everyone like Sony Boloney and Reetee Rotey.

Rachiel was also preceded in death by recently passed nephews, Mark Anthony Lopes and Richard Salinas Jr.

Rachiel is survived by siblings, Angela DeNoia, Elida Salinas, Daniel Maldonado, Jr., Oscar Maldonado, and Rita Lopez; nieces and nephews, DeAnna Thunderbird, Sonia Salinas, Oscar Maldonado Jr, Victoria Jenkins, Joshua Autry, Nathaniel Autry, Andrew Autry, and Jonathan Autry; great nieces and nephew, Malik McCleary, Jasmine Lopes, Destiny Salinas, Desarae Salinas, Desann Salinas, Jade Jenkins, Gabriella Autry, and Everly Rose Autry; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.

The Reading of the Rosary and the Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Father Richard Aguilar officiating.  Rachiel’s memory and love of music will be remembered through Mariachi.  Rachiel will be laid to rest near her parents at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
